Our Special Visitor

Alison Shanks is the world champ biker.

She is going to the Olympics this year. Alison started cycling 6 years ago after playing netball for Otago. She went to the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing where she was placed 4th in the individual pursuit. She won the World Champs gold in 2009 and then the Commonwealth gold medal in 2010.  Unfortunately after the 2008 Olympic games they removed the individual pursuit from the Olympics so this year in London she will be competing in the team pursuit.Last month in Melbourne Ali won the gold medal in the World Champs individual pursuit event which was very important to her given that its an Olympic year.

Parkvale School got to meet her and see all her gear! She also showed all the parts of her bike and some young leaders got to interview her. Her coach came along too.

Here is Alison Shanks, Me, Shae, Josh and Parris.
This is Alison with her medals and Jersey.
